Vendeuvre castle, a family castle, built in the eighteenth century, is located in Normandy (Calvados department). This castle has always been inhabited by the same family, the Comtes de Vendeuvre. When we visited it (August 2015), we saw the owner feeding his swans then we had the opportunity to discuss with him (thank you!).
The family that owns the castle of Vendeuvre is a passionate family. The many exhibitions, inside and outside the castle highlight, the many passions of the owners.

Visit
In the property, there are several places to visit. At the entrance of the estate, in the orangery of the castle, is located the museum of miniature furniture. You will be impressed by this rich collection (over 800 pieces of furniture) made by the owner’s wife.
You can also visit the castle. Some rooms on the ground floor may be visited, they are all very (too much?) furnished. An explanatory document allows you to learn more about the many objects (sometimes unusual) that are exposed. An annual exhibition and furniture of previous exhibitions highlight other passions of the successive owners (oriental furniture, automatons, kennels …). In the basement, discover the former kitchen of the castle and a collection of kennels.
The park is also a living museum. Many fountains are hidden throughout the park, visiting the park are very pleasant for both parents and children. There are also a vegetable maze, a cave decorated with thousands of shells, an exotic garden, numerous rivers…

Activities
With the many exhibitions and the park full of surprises, you will spend a very good day. You can also picnic in the castle park. In addition, various events are also organized. Each year, during the month of April, is held the tulip festival. During the Heritage Days, activities are also planned.
