Located in the Midi-Pyrénées region (Lot department), next to Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, one of the most beautiful villages in France, the Cénevières castle overlooks the Lot Valley (above 90m)! This private castle was built between the thirteenth and sixteenth century (according to the parts of the castle). Fortified medieval castle, it became a Renaissance palace in the sixteenth century.

The courtyard of the castle overlooks the valley, which offers a panoramic breathtaking view! The castle has belonged to the same family since the nineteenth century, who still lives there today. You’ll probably also the have opportunity to take a guided tour proposed by a member of the owner family.

Visit

Open from April to November, the tour of the castle is in the form of guided tour (in English and French) through the different rooms of the castle, including a very special one: the alchemy office. This unique and unspoiled piece, in exceptional condition, is worth seeing. The superb wall paintings of the sixteenth century and the many painted legends enable you to learn more about alchemy.

The castle is furnished and many anecdotes make the visit very pleasant.

Activities

Many activities are organized at Cenevieres Castle. In summer, you can discover the castle lit by candlelight during night visits. Among other activities, are held concerts, outdoor cinema screenings, conferences, medieval shows, exhibitions …
